Local beekeeping groups and agencies, like the Texas Beekeepers Association, spread information and more on local beekeeping practices. Groups that meet regularly can be found in Waco, Hillsboro, Burleson, Glen Rose and more. According to the TBA, every third bite of food consumed by the average Texan is a result of honey bee pollination, a keep part in the production of many fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Over 90 commercial crops produced in Texas require or benefit from bee pollination. The estimated annual value of honey bee pollination is $587 million, over 80 times the value of honey produced by these colonies.
