Thornton Ex-students give $2000 scholarship

Recently, chamber vicepresident Walter Hewitt and chamber president Randy Franklin presented Hailey and Hannah DeFriend with a scholarship in the amount of $750 each. “We are very proud of our community support so that we continue to bless our young people with funds, that they may continue their education,” stated chamber representatives. Thornton Masonic Lodge #486 presented their annual scholarship awards to Hannah DeFriend, Zackary Goodman, and Jaedi Rae Goodman on Thurs. Aug. 13 at the Groesbeck City Park. Each senior received $1000 from the lodge. The annual Kosse First United Methodist Church Bazaar will be held on Sat., October 3 at the Methodist Pavilion on Hwy 14. In following COVID-19 safety recommendations, the Bazaar will be scaled back slightly this year.
While summer is generally considered wedding season, a survey conducted by Wedding Wire shows that October 10 was the top 2020 wedding date. October has also been the most popular month to get married for four consecutive years. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has forced many couples to cancel or postpone their weddings, and many couples are still unsure what the future holds for their big day.
