Tiffany Burleson announces run for election to GISD Board

My name is Tiffany Burleson, and I am running for re-election to the GISD School Board. When Bill David Sadler stepped down as the at-large school board trustee, I was asked if I would be willing to step up and take his place and I gladly accepted the position.I have served on the board for almost a year and a half now. In that time, I have had to make some difficult decisions, and you can always count on me to make the best decision for the kids of GISD. From the child that is struggling just to make it to school to the most gifted student, I want to make sure GISD is adequately providing for them by having the best teachers, staff, administration, programs, and opportunities available. GISD does a lot of things right, and I want to stay on that path by ensuring our programs are growing and that they are serving our children well. I plan on making sure of these things by actively being involved and requiring statistics to show the efficacy of our programs. I will ask the hard questions in board meetings and not just go along with the majority. I will consider it my duty to make sure every decision benefits our kids and teachers, and I will fight for what is right.

COMMUNITY CALENDAR

OCTOBER 31 - Trick or Treating will occur in Groesbeck with the suggested time being from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Halloween, specifically Trick or Treating, has not been “canceled” by the City of Groesbeck. The universal sign for those residences not participating in trick or treating is the porch light being off so if you encounter a residence with lights out, please pass it up.

Legends and Lore

Legends and Lore

Legends and lore abound at this time of year. The days are shorter, the weather colder, and Halloween is a week away. In our time, Halloween is a fun time of year where the normal becomes paranormal, ghosts lurk around every corner, and children get to dress up and go house to house hoping for a sack full of sticky treats at the end of the night. Abandoned and run-down houses become “haunted”. Urban legends like “The Hook” and “The White Lady” begin to make the rounds again.

Kosse Pumpkin Carving Contest
