A lively group consisting of twenty being, Doris Lemley, James Lenamond, Wilma Lee, Wayne Sharp, Alma McCurry, Gayla Lind, Ann Brown, Elizabeth Neason, Snuffy Bennett, Fonetta Simmons, Glenda Gambini, Earl Mask, Roger and Linda Watson, Hank and Elle Staniszewski, Lorene Stembridge, Sue Wood, Janice Bilbrey and myself, gathered again for lunch and fellowship. Was good to have Sue Wood back and calling bingo. Snuffy Bennett won 3 games, Lorene won 2 games, Alma McCurry won 2 games and Blackout, Doris Lemley also won a game. Congratulations to these lucky ones.

Thornton Chamber of Commerce hosted its very first ever Annual Tribute to Thornton Cornhole and Texas 42 tournaments on Sat. Aug. 21 at the Thornton Slab. Many people gathered to enter the tournament and try their hand at 42 and cornhole for cash payouts and trophies. Fish plates were also sold.

Thursday was a good day with sixteen seniors gathered for lunch and enjoyment. We just never know what kind of surprises are going to come our way. Debra and Randy Franklin came bearing several dozen yard eggs to give to those who wanted them. They also shared the information about the Cornhole Toss and the 42 Tournament and the fish fry that is to be held Saturday, August 21st at the Thornton Slab beginning at 12 noon. The fish will be served around 2 p.m. Sign up for the contests at 11 a.m., so bring your partner and join in the fun. Trophies will be given to the winners. Should be fun.
