WACO — The Groesbeck Goats are moving on in the Class 3A boys basketball playoffs, as they defeated Whitney 55-48 Friday to advance.

Groesbeck Middle School students raised money and donations for LARAS House in Mexia recently. This was inspired by GISD students wanting to help the animals after a recent fire that ended in the loss of the main office, 2 dogs, and 9 pups on Feb. 5. They raised $700 total plus additional dog and cat food donations.
The Groesbeck Alumni team won against the Varsity Goats, 7-4 on Friday, Feb. 18. Those alumni that participated were: Jimmie Moore, Brandon Neimi, John Liscano, Julio Sanchez, Billy Kilgore, Austin Webster, Grant Johnson, Bryston Ferguson, Bradley Turrubiarte, John Burke, Bradley Wilson, Zach Wilson, Zack Wilson, Colby Weihausen, ex-head coach Cameron Sellstrom (2013- 2018), ex-head coach Mike Kelley (1991-1998).
