The Groesbeck Study Club had Its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Groesbeck Woman’s Club. President Mary Belle Leach opened the meeting. Martha Longbotham gave the devotional for the day. She opened with a prayer and told them that her reading will be coming from Guideposts and was entitled, “Mornings with Jesus”. If it’s not God’s will, then it isn’t good. Longbotham read to them about a lady that became a teacher after a divorce thinking she had found her shiny sure thing. “Jesus carried her through one year, but she quit. She realized that even though it was a shiny sure thing, it wasn’t for her. God’s Will trumps a shiny sure thing. She is still on her journey with God’s help. We need to…Rely on God for our direction.” Longbotham said. She closed with a prayer.
Several experts on local railroads’ history shared their knowledge at the Tri-County Railroad Symposium that took place Saturday at the Historic Teague Hotel.
