District Judge Deborah Oakes Evans will not run for re-election to term
District Judge Deborah Oakes Evans, 87th Judicial District, announced she will not run for re-election to a sixth term. Judge Evans was elected in November 2002, beginning her service on January 1, 2003. Her current term ends December 31, 2022. The 87th Judicial District is composed of Anderson, Leon, Freestone and Limestone Counties.

Cynthia Ann Garden Club holds reassembly meeting
The Cynthia Ann Garden Club had its reassembly dinner and meeting on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Groesbeck Woman’s Club at noon. In our President, Becky Smith’s absence, First Vice President, Paige Longoria presided. She welcomed us all and expressed her delight that we were meeting again after taking off for such a long time due to Covid. Dorothy Ham gave our devotional and we were directed to fill our plates at the salad luncheon we had all participated in.
60 years later - G.H.S. Class of 1961
The G.H.S. Class of 1961 met at Kamdan’s Cafe on Saturday, September 18 for its 60th class reunion. Class members present were: front row - Deanne Corbitt Middlebrook, Janell White Wilson, Roger Freeman, and Suzanne Williamson Hoppers; back row - Dale Weaver, Paula Seamans Adkins, Jerry Lynn McPherson, Johnny Walton, Harvey Vogel, Mel Yarborough, and Jerry Lou Wilson.
