Centenarian sisters living large

To reach the age of 100 is an accomplishment within itself. But to be that old and to be awesomely pretty, maintaining a positive attitude, smart as a whip and as cunning as a fox, humorous as they come and independently opinionated about politics, and to be able to look up to your sister who is 106 . . . well, goodness, can that be?

Happy New Year

I am sorry to say that with the holidays I have fallen down on my reporting. On December the 17th our seniors had their Christmas party and gift exchange with 11 participating in the fun. The seniors bought cookies of all kinds to enjoy during their fellowship. Those attending were Annita Childress, Vera Martin, Dorothy McFerran, Pat Ogden, Sandra Richards, Ruth Rowland, Ruth Schille, Norma Tate, Judy Vickery, Orma Williams and Robin York. Our Jackpot winner was Robin York. Our Caller for Bingo that day was Kim Sheppard from Texas Home Health & Hospice. We always appreciate our volunteers that call bingo and bring prizes.

American Legion donates to Kentucky Storm families

American Legion Post 288 began collecting money, food, water, clothing, hygiene, toys, and cleaning supplies two weeks ago. On December 24th, American Legion Department of Texas commander Brett Watson came to Groesbeck to pick up the items and a check for $800.00 to benefit veterans and their families affected by the storms in Kentucky. The post wants to thank those who donated items and money, including the Groesbeck Lion’s Club.
