The heat may have kept some people away but those that did attend the Groesbeck Heritage Festival had a good time, Julia Morton said.

The Cynthia Ann Garden Club had its end of the year social at the home of Carolyn and David Hughes in Forest Glade. It was a beautiful place and they were gracious hosts. The inside of their Family room out back of their home was decorated in SAFARi Many mounted trophies and very rustic but beautifully appointed with tables set out for us with animal print tablecloths. They met us outside and made sure we all got into the building with great care. Then they fed us three different kinds of sliders with secret sweet sauce on them, chips, fresh fruit salad and with peach cobbler a la mode for dessert and tea or water to drink. Everyone brought a plant so that we could have our annual swap game. Then, outgoing president Becky Smith presented the new officers for the coming club year with a single rose as she announced their names. They are: Cecily Ball-President, Lynn Raely-1st Vice President, Martha Stone-2nd Vice President, Mary Belle Leach-Recording Secretary, Julia Morton-Corresponding Secretary, Joan McEntyre-Treasurer, Susan Sherrouse-Historian, Becky Smith-Parliamentarian, and Ginger Fritz-Press Reporter.

Sindra McLean, a Hospice Consultant, was the speaker for the Groesbeck Lions Club on Wednesday, May 25. The meeting was held at Mi Rancho Restaurant. She was introduced to the Lions Club by Diana Diaz, who was the program chairmen for the month of May.
