Thornton Homecoming Keeps Crowds Busy With Fun For Everyone

Excitement was in the air June 16-18 as current residents of Thornton welcomed former citizens and visitors from all over Texas and neighboring Louisiana for the annual Thornton Homecoming. While the festivities did not kick off until Thursday night’s youth rodeo, members of the Thornton Chamber of Commerce have been hard at work on the preparations since last year. “As far as organizing, it was a group effort,” Chamber Treasurer Carla Robison said, “but as far as going above and beyond redoing the rodeo pens, was Kenneth Copeland, Johnnie Wilson, Randy Franklin and so many more.”

Thornton Ex-Students Hold Meeting During Homecoming

The Thornton Ex-Students held a meeting after the pie auction was held during homecoming. Seems we dwindle in numbers each year but managed to have the homecoming Queen and King, Elizabeth Reynolds Neason and Bill Neason present for the meeting. They spoke words of thanks for the honor of representing the association this year. They went through the 11th grade in Thornton and the school was then transferred to Groesbeck. They both have lived in Thornton their entire lives.
