Amy Davis, Enge-Washington Intermediate Educator of the Year
Groesbeck ISD employs more than 100 teachers and close to 300 total staff members between the four campuses, administration, and various departments. Staff members are all working toward the common goal and mission of the district: to ensure students achieve maximum potential. As in any business, some employees go above and beyond in their work, and staff from each campus were tasked with selecting the Teacher of the Year by popular vote before Christmas Break. The winners are as follows:
H.O. Whitehurst Elementary: Regina King
Enge-Washington Intermediate: Amy Davis
Groesbeck Middle School: Lori Longenbaugh
Groesbeck High School: Elizabeth Tidwell
Though all these teachers deal with different subjects and grade levels, one thing they have in common is their emphasis on caring for their students and seeing them as individuals with needs and unique life experiences. As GHS Health Teacher Elizabeth Tidwell said "These kids honestly just need to feel like they're believed in."
Each of these four educators will be recognized at the upcoming Chamber Banquet on Thursday, Feb. 9. In this edition of the Journal, you will find features on Amy Davis and Elizabeth Tidwell, and can expect features on Regina King and Lori Longenbough in the next week’s issue.
