The town of Groesbeck rejoiced in February 1945 upon learning that one of its own, Army Nurse Corps Lieutenant Earlyn Marie Black, had been liberated after nearly three years as a prisoner of war in the Philippines.
Tables in the Groesbeck Middle School cafeteria were nearly full at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 1. The theme chosen for this year’s event was appropriately "The Dream Still Matters. Never Let It Die."
