Garden Club has Pilgrimage to Texas A&M Horticulture Department
The Cynthia Ann Garden Club had a Pilgrimage to Texas A&M to the Horticulture Department on Thursday, March 23. We car-pooled to Texas A&M that morning and were greeted by Dr. Mike Arnold who escorted us through the gardens outside at the Horticulture Department. He described the various plants, how some of the areas were developed, and what the various areas were used for. The walk through the areas was informative and very pleasant. Amanda Ray and Tammy Neel made sure we were taken care of and provided us with a delicious meal after the walk. After lunch, Mr. Bill McKinley demonstrated how to make several beautiful and unusual floral arrangements. Afterward, two ladies working on their PhDs in Enology, (the study of wines) Abby Keng and Cassie Marbach, held a wine tasting for the group. They explained how the different wines were made and some of the problems they encounter in the making of certain wines.
