Thursday-Saturday, June 22-24 Evenings – The 93rd Annual Mexia Rodeo. There are no ticket presales, no ticket on-line sales. All tickets are available at the gate, cash only! If anyone is trying to sell you tickets prior to the rodeo, it is a scam. Adult tickets (age 13 and over $12; ages 12-and-under are $6 each. New this year - Senior Calf Scramble, ages 13-18 on Saturday night. No preregistration required. Calf scramble for the younger cowboys and cowgirls will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Other local events are Mutton Bustin, Youth Break-away, Youth Barrels, Youth Ribbon Roping and Wild Cow Milking requires pre-registration which will be done only June 16, 17, and 18, 6 to 9 p.m. by calling 254-722-0795.
Fort Parker SP hosts 100 years celebration

Fort Parker State Park was in celebration mode on Saturday.
Park officials hosted its inaugural Lakeside Legacy Celebration. The event was the park’s way of celebrating 100 years of existence for Texas State Parks.
Local resident selected as a Top 3 RSVP volunteer of the year

Pat Ogden, has been selected as a RSVP Volunteer of the Year runner-up. She volunteers at Groesbeck Senior Center and has 700 hours recorded at the center. Glenda O’Neal, who nominated Ogden and is her supervisor, said Ogden takes care of many details and does a huge amount of service for others, while expecting nothing. Susan Copeland, RSVP Program Director said “Pat is a perfect example of a selfless hero. She gives her time freely to help others and expects nothing but a smile in return.”
