Thornton Ex-Students hold meeting at Homecoming

We were few in number but we still had the good old “Thornton High Forever, to you we’ll always be true”, spirit. Graduates who attended being the oldest, Rand Bates, class of 1952; David Tilley class of 1954; Neva Kay Tilley Driscoll and Dava Jane White Carpenter, class of 1955; Gene Ray Alston, class of 1958; Martha Lee Lewis Stanton, class of 1959 and Kay Shoffner Alston, class of 1961.

Every Monday – The Beer Joint hosts a Pool Tournament at 4864 TX-14 in Thorton. Players meet at 7:30 p.m., and the game starts at 8 p.m. – $10 buyin.

Thursday-Saturday, June 22-24 Evenings – The 93rd Annual Mexia Rodeo. There are no ticket presales, no ticket on-line sales. All tickets are available at the gate, cash only! If anyone is trying to sell you tickets prior to the rodeo, it is a scam. Adult tickets (age 13 and over $12; ages 12-and-under are $6 each. New this year - Senior Calf Scramble, ages 13-18 on Saturday night. No preregistration required. Calf scramble for the younger cowboys and cowgirls will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Other local events are Mutton Bustin, Youth Break-away, Youth Barrels, Youth Ribbon Roping and Wild Cow Milking requires pre-registration which will be done only June 16, 17, and 18, 6 to 9 p.m. by calling 254-722-0795.
