The Jonathan Hardin Chapter DAR awarded Mr. Jerry Pickens this honor at our November 10, 2021 meeting. At the annual Texas State DAR Conference, held in Houston on March 19, 2022, Mr. Pickens received the “Outstanding Veteran Volunteer Award” from the Texas State Society DAR. In attendance at the National Defense Banquet recognizing Jerry’s award were his daughters, Julie Pickens Smith and friend Daniel Averitt, Susan Pickens Steen and husband Steven, granddaughter Madison Jones and husband Cooper, Jonathan Harding Chapter Regent, Nancy McSwane, and other chapter members.
