A total of 774 new laws went into effect on Sept. 1, affecting Texans in many areas of their lives, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The new laws concern property taxes, registration fees and voting access, among other issues. Several have drawn court challenges from opponents.
Scotland and bagpipes just go together. The first official event of the 10day tour of Scotland was a welcome dinner which began with a bagpiper entertaining the group for at least 30 minutes. Needless to say, everyone was thrilled.
Groesbeck ISD Board of Trustees had a special meeting on the morning of Aug. 28 to take action on a few time-sensitive matters before the month ended. Though Board President Aslone Foy and Angela Crane were not in attendance, a quorum was present and Vice President Jim Longbotham ran the brief meeting.
“Blessings in October” has scheduled its thirteenth annual Adopt Some Houses workday for Saturday, October 21.
