The Groesbeck Goats reigned in the win at the renewal of Battle of the River with a 37-36 victory over Mexia at Blackcat Stadium on Friday night. The score set off a wild celebration on the Groesbeck side of the stadium since this was the first time in 36 years that the Goats took home the rivalry win from the Mexia home turf. The Goats raced across the field to a far corner of the end zone where the Navasota River sign was standing and triumphantly brought it back to their sideline,  to bring back to Groes

Battle lines: Two-point run in OT lifts Groesbeck over Mexia

Groesbeck quarterback Trent Platt dove into the end zone on a two-point conversion in overtime to lift the Goats to a 37-36 victory over Mexia in the renewal of the Battle of the Navasota rivalry at Blackcat Stadium on Friday night. The score set off a wild celebration on the Groesbeck side of the stadium. The players raced across the field to a far corner of the end zone where the Navasota River sign was standing and triumphantly brought it back to their sideline.
