Battle lines: Two-point run in OT lifts Groesbeck over Mexia
Groesbeck quarterback Trent Platt dove into the end zone on a two-point conversion in overtime to lift the Goats to a 37-36 victory over Mexia in the renewal of the Battle of the Navasota rivalry at Blackcat Stadium on Friday night. The score set off a wild celebration on the Groesbeck side of the stadium. The players raced across the field to a far corner of the end zone where the Navasota River sign was standing and triumphantly brought it back to their sideline.
What to know before attending Friday’s Battle of the River game in Mexia
This Friday night, the Battle of the River returns when the Groesbeck Goats go to Mexia Blackcat field. Gates will open at 5:30 pm; come early to ensure you’re there for all the festivities. No re-entry will be allowed.
