To the Editor:
I attended the meeting in Kosse on Feb. 3 to learn more about the candidates running for office in Limestone County and was gratified by the large turnout of local citizens present. Mayor Jarrod Eno personally welcomed crowd members before Councilman Brooks Vall delivered a formal welcome and recognized the efforts of City Secretary Christina Lockhart. Also, in attendance were County Judge and Mrs. Richard Duncan and Tucker Anderson representing Congressional candidate, Pete Sessions.
The candidates’ answers to questions posed by the audience thru the moderator revealed one universal fact. All the candidates “love” Limestone County and this is the basis for their candidacy. As important as this factor is, it left me seeking more information to distinguish the differences between each candidate’s approach to the conduct of the office sought.
As a result, I will attend the “Meet the Candidates” to be conducted by Downtown Mexia on Feb. 11 and may be unable to make a final decision until after the Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce Last Chance “Candidate Forum” on Feb. 17, the night before Early Voting begins on Feb. 18.
Limestone County is going thru important changes and the budget is having difficulty keeping pace with new and increased responsibilities. Those we elect to protect and serve will determine the safety and financial security of the county “we all love”.
Other elections at the district, state and national levels deserve our careful consideration!
Attend these remaining meetings and learn more about the Limestone County candidates.
Vote in this important primary election!
