Wayne Cranfield Sharp

Mr. Wayne Cranfield Sharp passed away at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco, Texas on July 18, 2024, at the age of 85. Mr. Sharp was a resident of Thornton, Texas. He was born to William Emory and Flora Bell (Moncrief) Sharp in Kosse, Texas on April 22, 1939. Wayne was a graduate of the class of 1958 from Thornton High School. While growing up in the Thornton/Kosse area, he worked on the farm with his father who was a sharecropper and raised cattle. After school, he was a journeyman mechanic. He went on to work at Skyview as a state correction officer in Rusk, Texas for twenty years from which he retired. 
Wayne enjoyed fishing, listening to bluegrass music, and sitting outside watching a storm roll in and the lightning. He enjoyed attending Central Baptist Church in Thornton. Wayne enjoyed looking at old cars and antique John Deere Tractors. One of his favorite pastimes was watching sports, especially the Astros. He even had an umpire clicker to keep up with the balls and strikes to make sure the umpires were accurate. Also, a good cigar was a pleasure to him from time to time.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Pat Sharp. He is survived by his children Allen Wayne Sharp and wife Cecilia, Denise Sharp and David Wade Sharp; grandchildren, Justin Sharp and wife Kari, Allen Wayne Wesley Sharp and wife Taylor, Joshua William Roland Sharp and wife Kaci, Robyn Jo Sneed and husband Ty, Victor Quinten Sharp; great-grandchildren, Trinity Grace, TJ, Nyla, Adonis and Tevin Sneed.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, July 21, at the Kosse Cemetery in Kosse, Texas at 1 p.m. with officiating by Reverend Tracy Sims.
