Shirley Ann (Sifford) Flora
Shirley Ann (Sifford) Flora of Kerrville passed away in Groesbeck Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at age 76.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, Feb. 9 at Upper Turtle Creek Cemetery, Kerrville, with Rodger Bonettie officiating.
Shirley was born February 18, 1944 in Uvalde County to Russell Green Sifford and Gladys Haggerton Sifford. The family moved from a ranch to Kerrville, where she grew up. She lived most of her life in Center Point and Kerrville.
Shirley was married to George Flora until his passing. She was a working Mom, not only at various jobs outside home but raising four boys, three nephews and four nieces. Taking care of her family was her main priority in life, and she made sure they were cared for, fed and had a roof over their heads. When school was out in the summer they “lived” on the Guadalupe River, spending every possible minute there with her liking to fish while the kids were swimming. When the kids got in trouble, they headed to the river.
She loved her grandchildren, and when they needed something she would find a way to get what they needed for them. She always tried to keep in touch with those not living near. As she lived recently with her son and daughter-in-law in Groesbeck, the granddaughter living closest said she has lost her best friend now.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers, two nieces, and her husband George Flora.
She is survived by her four sons Bryan and wife Janice Marschall of Groesbeck, David Marschall of Kerrville, Chris Marschall of Kerrville and Larry Guynes of Granite Shoals. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren David A. Marschall, Hawk Bates-Marschall, Quest Bates- Marschall, Alec Nicholson, Faith Nicholson, Ashley Cornwell and Leighton Brooks, all of Groesbeck, Dylan Marschall of Arkansas, Kierstan Diefenderfer and Megan Diefenderfer of Dilley, Britany Diefenderfer of Calallen, and Crystaline Rosa Marschall of Paige, and nine great-grandchildren There are two surviving brothers, Butch Sifford and Larry Sifford of Center Point, and many nieces and nephews.
