Ronald was born October 11, 1934 to Alex Clifton Stone and Mattie Katherine Ford Stone in Criswell area Big Creek Bottom. He married Wynell Shields November 3, 1952. Ronald and Wynell had two children Max Lynn and Rhonda Renee. Ronald grew up in Criswell, Froza, and McClanahan. He worked as a farmer, rancher, and built truck tires at General Tire in Waco. He also worked as a carpenter, welder, and pipefitter. He eventually owned and operated two gas stations, one in Kosse and the other in Groesbeck. He also ran a wrecker service as part of his gas station business. He finally opened Stone’s Auto Supply in Jewett in 1983.
Ronald met Wynell Shields at a church event in Criswell Texas, and they eventually married on November 3, 1952. They were lifelong members of Church of Christ and attended the Church of Christ wherever they lived or vacationed. Ronald was the inspiration for the construction of the Church of Christ in Old Union. He was involved from the drawing plans to the finished building; he was there every step of the way helping to build the church. He lists this as one of the proudest accomplishments of his life. He was a hard worker and taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work, just like his father and grandfather taught him. He had a great love of family and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ronald and Wynell both loved fishing and boating, travelling to new places and meeting new people and they loved to play dominoes. Ronald also loved his cows and was fond of his bull.
Ronald is preceded in death by his wife Wynell, his parents, his daughter Rhonda Renee Stone Callahan, sister-in-law Davy Joy Shields Gilmore and step grandson Jackson Wyatt Lindner.
Ronald is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Max Lynn and Carol Stone of Marlin, Texas; granddaughters, Tonia Lynn Stone Allen and husband, Ryan, of Kingwood, Texas, Megan Leigh Stone Bailey and husband, Travis of Meridian, Idaho; stepgranddaughter Suzy Hicks Lindner and husband, Donny, of Giddings, Texas; great grandchildren, Audrey Elizabeth Baquet, Gwenyth Anne Bailey and Judson Rhett Lindner.
