Paul Quentin Rayburn
Paul Quentin Rayburn of Lake Limestone passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 5:40 a.m.
Paul was born on October 5, 1938, in McKenzie, TN, to David Todd Rayburn and Mary Pauline Blaylock Rayburn. The Rayburn family moved to Texas where Paul and his two brothers attended Sweeny High School.
After high school, Paul served in the United States Army. He was stationed in El Paso, TX at Fort Bliss. Paul left the Army to work primarily in the Petrochemical Industry on the Gulf Coast.
He loved western movies, youth rodeos, fishing, and hunting with his family.
He was an avid bass fisherman and a member of the local Bass Club in Alvin TX. He took up the game of golf after retirement and enjoyed the game and the comradery he found at the Hillcrest Golf Club.
Paul met the love of his life while attending his dear friend’s daughter’s wedding. They danced, and soon after he married Catherine Louise Freed of Clear Lake, Texas on September 2, 1983. They moved to Alvin, Texas where they continued to dance and raise their sons. Paul and Cathy were long time members of The Hangar Square, square dancing club and they danced all over the states and back. They attended The First Presbyterian Church of Alvin Texas together and Paul could be found volunteering and cutting the grass in the summers. The couple built their final home on Lake Limestone and moved to Groesbeck, TX to spend their time on the water and being part of the community.
Paul was survived by his wife Catherine Louise Freed Rayburn, Corey, and John Klier, Michael and Melissa Rayburn, Steven and Stephanie Rayburn, Brian and Tonya Freed. Brothers and Sisters; David Duane Rayburn and wife Dorothy Rayburn of Lake Jackson TX, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Todd and Mary Rayburn, his brother, Bobby Todd Rayburn, and nephew, Ricky ‘Sam’ Rayburn, all of Sweeney TX.
