Linda Sue Henson
Linda Sue Henson, of Groesbeck, passed away Sunday night, November 13, 2022, surrounded by her kids.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Fort Parker Memorial Park, with Tyrell Hobbs officiating.
Linda was born in Groesbeck on December 5, 1944, to Johnny and Lou Ellen Welch. She grew up and attended school in Groesbeck, and for a brief time in Marlin.
Linda was married to Larry Henson and raised her family of 5 children in Groesbeck. She worked at the Mexia State School and retired after having worked there for 28 years.
Linda was a talented and artistic lady, who loved to crochet, sew, make wreaths and other crafts. She kept her porch and yard decorated for each season for all who drove by on Highway 164 to enjoy, and she shared crafts she made with her family. Her home was full of the many treasures she found on her shopping trips, as well as snacks and treats for the kids.
Linda really enjoyed going to Leon Junction in Mart, and she loved shopping for craft supplies and toys for the kids. She liked to have a new toy laid out for them in the children’s room, which they would rush to find as soon as they had hugged her. There was a collection of over 400 items.
Linda’s greatest enjoyment in life was having her family come together, for holidays, birthdays, and Sunday dinners. After the meal, she loved sitting back and listening to them talk and laugh throughout the afternoon. The grandchildren and greatgrandchildren loved the fun of the family parties or just spending time with Granny.
Linda had a brief battle with cancer starting in September and suffered several complications from the associated surgeries. Whether you were her family or her friend, and knew her as mom, momma, mother, granny, Miss Linda or Mrs. Henson, know that she loved you and fought hard to get back home. She leaves behind great memories for her family and will be dearly missed by many.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Henson; her brother, Freddie Welch; sister-in-law, Joyce Welch; a son, Larry Dean Henson; and a great granddaughter, Ainsley Kate Ellison.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Kenny Kitchens of Groesbeck; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and David Fregia of Groesbeck; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Valerie Henson of Groesbeck; and daughter, Tisha Henson of Waco. She also will be missed by her 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; brother, Johnny Welch of Mexia; sister-in-law, Wanda June Crow of Mesquite; and other extended family.
