Lana Renee Taylor
Venable was born January 16, 1983 in Waco, Texas to Lane and Kim (Killingsworth) Taylor. She went to heaven with her heavenly father on June 25, 2019.
A visitation will be on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 6-8 PM in the Groesbeck Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at 2 PM on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck, with Brother Jimmy Cotton officiating. Burial followed at Little Flock Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brady Ferguson, Larry Bates, Kyle Swinson, Jerod Stone, Chris Cockerham, Corey Frank, Case Frank, and Cade Layne.
Lana was a devoted mother to her son, Hays and a loving wife to her husband, Justin. She was a friend to all and rarely met a stranger. If you had the privilege of knowing Lana, you have shared laughs beyond measure, been loved without boundaries and known exactly where you stood with her at all times.
Lana had a temper (she is part Ferguson after all), always had to have the last word and did not enjoy cooking. Her moto (which hangs in her kitchen on a wooden sign) has always been “Eat at Mom’s”. She felt that her time was better spent telling her sisters that their hair looks terrible, asking “What in the world are you wearing?”, adding rhinestones to any and everything and loving Hays and her nieces and nephews to the bone. Family was everything to Lana. She and Justin made sure that Hays was always the center of their universe. The sun rose and set on Hays for Lana.
Lana and Justin have shared 12 years together. She is the second child of her parents, the first baby sibling for her sister, Nicki and the keeper of the stars for her little sisters, Kasey and Corey. Growing up, she was the light of her Papa and Nonnie’s life.
Left to cherish and honor Lana’s memory are her husband, Justin Venable; son, Hays Catalena; Parents, Lane and Kim Taylor; Paternal Grandmother, Chelsia Taylor; Sisters and Brother-inlaws- Nicki and Conrad Hagen, Kasey and Wade Ladd and Corey and Wes Tunnell; Nieces and Nephews- Weston Hagen, Cameryn Ward, Rhett Hagen, Myli Ladd, Cloie Tunnell, Kaki Ladd and Knox Tunnell; In-Laws- Joe and Rhonda Venable, Jim and Leslie Reid, Megan Venable, Wade Venable, Madison Reid and so very many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends that will also miss her dearly.
As much as those of us left here on earth will miss her, she has joined our loved ones gone before her: Glen (Curly) and Margaret Ann Killingsworth- maternal grandparents, T.J. Taylor- paternal grandfather and cousin Daryl Ferguson, Jr.
To allow Lana’s beautiful memory & spirit to live on through others her wishes to donate her organs were carried out. Her family, while extremely sad, is proud to know that Lana’s selflessness will allow 8 others to live.
For anyone wishing to make memorial donations in honor of Lana, the family has requested these be made to the Cowboy Heritage Church of Freestone County.
