Kimberly Kaye Cortines
Kimberly Kaye Cortines was born on Jan. 24, 1963, in Waco, Texas to her parents, Bob Ed Coffee and Ann Lawless Gates. She passed surrounded by her family on the morning of Oct. 12, 2024 at the age of 61 years.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.
Kim grew up in Groesbeck, but moved to Lufkin, Texas during her high school years, where she was a 1981 graduate of Lufkin High School. She went on to marry the love of her life, David Cortines in June of 1986. Together they raised two sons, Corey and Kyle. She loved to watch them play sports and could always be found in the crowd cheering on her boys. They moved back to Groesbeck in the year 2000. Kim worked for Groesbeck ISD as a beloved teacher’s aid for 16 years. She was always a bright light in the halls of GMS, and will be remembered for her contagious laugh and ability to make others smile.
Kim was a doting “Nana” to her 6 grandsons. The boys were her pride and joy. She could often be found sneaking them candy or new toys and giggling with them. She loved nothing more than spoiling them and watching them grow up.
Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tim and Hattie Lawless, and Robert and Lois Coffee, and her father-in-law, Martin Cortines.
Kim is survived by her parents, Ann Lawless Gates of Groesbeck, Texas, Bob Ed Coffee and stepmother Celeste Coffee of Groesbeck, Texas. Her loving husband of 38 years, David Cortines of Thornton, Texas. Her sons Corey Cortines and wife Dusty of China Spring, Texas, and Kyle Cortines and wife Haylie of Franklin, Texas.
