Ann was born September 9, 1942, to Marshal Basham and Sibyl Walker Basham in Alvarado, TX. She grew up in Alvarado, where she graduated in the Class of 1960. After attending business school, she then obtained an Associate degree from Amarillo Jr. College, where she studied biology and Texas History.
Ann loved all information on Texas history and maintained a life-long interest in history. She took the children to museums and visiting historical sites and markers, and always enjoyed reading more about history in books and magazines.
While the family lived in Amarillo, Ann was highly involved as a scuba diving instructor for many years. She enjoyed being outdoors, and camping with her kids when they were young, and fishing.
Ann moved from Amarillo to Lumberton in 1983 and moved to Kosse in 1999. She had worked as a school bus driver in Lumberton, and after moving to Kosse first worked at the Bremond Nursing Home, and then drove a school bus for the Groesbeck ISD for many years.
Ann enjoyed carpentry work with her good friend Sandi, and they built a small cabin at Kosse, for which she had enjoyed designing the interior. She always enjoyed traveling, and the “Uncle Wiggly Trips” she and Sandi took, which were adventurous road trips just going where the road led them without a plan. Ann also loved reading.
Ann had more recently lived four years in Crystal Beach with her daughter, Cindy. She was a member of the Crystal Beach Community Church in Crystal Beach and attended the Common Ground Cowboy Church in Kosse.
Ann was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Marshal and Ruth Basham; her mother, Sybil Walker-Basham; and her brother, Pat Basham.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Christine and Mark Knop of Ellinwood, Kansas; daughter, Cindy Overstreet of Groesbeck; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Gina Overstreet of Celina; grandchildren, Dalton Miguez of Nederland, Tyler Knop of Ellinwood, KS, Lauren Knop of Ellinwood, KS, Ryan Overstreet of Celina, and Malaki McNaughton of Groesbeck; and also, her lifelong friend, Sandi McCreery of Groesbeck.
