Jill Marie Flatt

Jill Marie Flatt, 55, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 10, 2024. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 16, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mexia.
Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Jill was born Oct. 29, 1968, in Oxnard, Calif., to Melvin and Carole Zander Tarwater. She graduated high school in Bellville. She attended Texas A&M University and received a Bachelor of Geosciences degree in 1991. She married Clint Flatt on June 5, 1993, and they were blessed with two children, Tyler and Molly. Although being a busy mother, Jill decided to continue her education and graduated with a Master’s degree from tu in 2007. Like her mother and older brother, she dedicated her life to teaching. She was presently employed by Groesbeck Independent School District; she had dedicated 34 years to teaching in the classroom.
Jill enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved her children, but nothing can compare to the love a grandmother has for her grandchildren.
When time permitted, Jill enjoyed a relaxing walk in the pasture, gardening, canning and taking the camper to tailgate at A&M football games. She also found peace in coloring books and reading supernatural mystery books. Her favorite color was purple, and she liked to listen to 80’s pop rock music.
Jill is survived by her husband, Clint Flatt; son, Tyler Flatt and wife, Riley; daughter, Molly Flatt; grandchildren, Luka Adams and Abby Flatt; parents, Melvin and Carole Tarwater; brothers, Paul and Curtis Tarwater; father and mother-in-law, Dick and Linda Flatt; God children and grandchildren, A.J. and Ellen Reyes and their children, Amelia and Eliseo.
