Billy Gene Lenamond
Billy Gene Lenamond, 92, of Whitney, Tx. passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at his residence.
Lenamond was born in Groesbeck, Tx. in 1929. Upon completing the eighth grade, he was called to help his family on their farm and never returned to school.
He became a farmer, a husband, a father, a reproduction manager for DeGolyer and MacNaughton, an energy exploration and mapping company and a company vice president. Years later he moved to Dallas, Tx. and worked for the Dallas Morning News. Some 35 years later Billy retired as a vice president.
He took great pride in his family throughout his life. His next accomplishment and enjoyment was the building of his 2-story house at Lake Whitney. With the help of his family the house was hand built and made to last for decades.
Billy leaves behind one sister, three children, eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one greatgreat child. He left behind an amazing legacy for generations to follow.
He will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan.7, at the Church of Christ in Whitney, Tx. with Bruce Martin officiating. The burial service will be at Cobb Cemetery in Groesbeck, Tx. at 2:00 p.m. following lunch at the church.
