Frances Lee Lenamon DuPlantis
Frances Lee Lenamon DuPlantis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion.
Frances was born on Aug. 16, 1936, in Limestone County, Texas, at the family farm home of her parents, Bart and Kate Lenamon. She grew up just south of Box Church alongside her cherished siblings, Mary Beth, Joe, and Johnny. Life on the farm instilled in her a strong work ethic, an appreciation for family, and an unwavering faith in the Lord, nurtured by her mother and Grandmother Allie, who read the Bible to her and taught her to love Jesus.
Her childhood was filled with the joys of simple country life—spending time with cousins, visiting her grandparents after church, and making treasured memories with her family. She attended a two-room schoolhouse for her early education, later graduating as the salutatorian of Groesbeck High School in 1954. Frances then moved to Dallas to work before enrolling at Sam Houston State College, where she was honored as "Miss Sam Houston of 1956" as a freshman.
It was during this time that she met the love of her life, William "Bill" DuPlantis. Their love story began with a brief encounter in 1956, followed by a phone call ten months later that would change their lives forever. Frances and Bill were married on August 2, 1957, and built a beautiful life together, raising three sons—William Bradley, Michael David, and Stephen Douglas—in Baytown, Texas.
Frances embraced her role as a devoted wife and mother, pouring love and care into her family and home. She was a woman of grace, strength, and deep faith, finding joy in hospitality, homemaking, and the simple blessings of life. Her kindness and warmth extended beyond her family, touching the lives of countless friends and her cherished church community.
In later years, Frances was blessed with a loving family, including her daughter-in-law, Dana; four precious grandchildren, Logan, Brooke Khoury and her husband, Colton, Nicole, Alina Winter and her husband, Eric; as well as three great-grandchildren, Cru and Camila Khoury and Anya Winter, who brought her immense joy. She often reflected with gratitude on her upbringing, her parents’ sacrifices, and the faith that had guided her throughout her life.
Frances’ greatest legacy is the love she shared and the unwavering faith she passed down to her family. She often expressed her prayer that her loved ones would come to know and trust Jesus, just as she had.
She is now reunited in heaven with her husband, Bill, her son, Michael, her parents, her beloved family members, and her Savior. While she will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, the impact of her love, faith, and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at:
