Richard Eugene (Deacon) Stone
Funeral services for Richard Eugene (Deacon) Stone will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Bro. Jack Hardy will officiate. Interment will follow the services at New Hope Cemetery in Limestone County with U.S. Air Force Honors and Masonic Rites.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Richard Eugene (Deacon) Stone went to be with his Heavenly Savior on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, one day after his ninety-fifth birthday.
Richard was born on Jan. 29, 1930, in Jewett to Herbert & Inez (Ainsworth) Stone. He was the oldest of three children. After graduating from Pasadena High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and married his high school sweetheart, Helen McMillan in 1948. Richard went on to work for Occidental Petroleum for forty-three years as an Electrical Coordinator. After retirement, he returned to his hometown of Jewett, where he enjoyed his life as a Rancher. Richard was a member and longtime Deacon of Little Flock Baptist Church. He was a also a member of Jewett Masonic Lodge #427, a Shriner, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #157, Buffalo, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; one son, Rick; and two grandchildren, Stacie and Chad.
Richard is survived by his wife of seventy-six years, Helen Stone of Jewett; one daughter, Iris White of Jewett; three grandchildren, Shyanne Lucas, Kelli Wiemers & husband John, and Kimberly Stone & Chance Dennis; six great-grandchildren, Emily, Kristen, Brandon, Sheridan, Audie, and Brooklyn; two great-great-grandchildren, Shadow and Paisley; numerous cousins and friends.
