Local Business Owner Loses Home to Fire Friday Night, Benefit Planned for Family Wednesday

Local business owner Kimberly Perkins and her family lost their home in a devastating fire while attending a Friday night football game. The fire, which destroyed nearly everything inside, was battled by several local volunteer fire departments, including Groesbeck VFD, Thornton VFD, Kosse VFD, Mexia VFD, and West Lake Limestone VFD. Although the home could not be saved, all family members, including their pets, escaped unharmed.

In response, the community is coming together to support the family. A benefit and bake sale will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kamdan’s Cafe. The event will feature spaghetti or chicken spaghetti plates with salad, bread, and tea or water for $15 each, available for dine-in or takeout.

If you'd like to donate baked goods or have any questions, please reach out to the Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce at (254) 729-3894 or you may drop off items at Kamdan's Cafe on Wednesday.

Those that would like to donate to the family may do so through a bank account at Farmers State Bank in Groesbeck where donations can be made to assist the family. Tell the bank you would like to donate to the Benefit fund for Kim Perkins under Jennifer Paul or through GoFundMe – https://gofund.me/f9e39a7c
