Groesbeck Science Teacher unexpectedly passes

Mrs. Jill Flatt, a beloved science teacher at Groesbeck High School, passed away last night due to a health complication, according to Superintendent Anthony Figueroa. The school community is mourning her loss, and thoughts and prayers are with her husband, family, and friends during this difficult time.

In response to the news, Groesbeck High School has arranged for counselors, local pastors, and additional support staff to be on-site today to assist students and staff. Crisis counselors from the regional service center are also available.

Visitation will take place at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Sunday, Sept. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian in Mexia Monday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. The school encourages families to keep Mrs. Flatt’s loved ones in their thoughts and prayers.
