Roberta Jane Hall
Roberta Jane Hall, of Thornton, went to her eternal home to be reunited with her “Bo”, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at age 81.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in the Thornton City Cemetery, with Reverend Tracy Sims officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were T J Cordova, Cody Hilleary, Brett Cordova, Colton Cordova, Cade Pollard, Brayden Pollard, Blake Silar, Andrew Hunter, and Will Craddock.
Roberta (called Bert by many, and Bertie, which she allowed only her brothers and sisters to say) was born September 3, 1941, to Silas Landen and Violet (Cronk) Landen in Topeka, Kansas. While she was a teen, the family moved to Houston, and Roberta graduated from Bellaire High School.
While she was working as a bookkeeper at Ingersall-Rand Co. in Houston, Roberta met Bo Hall. Roberta and James Wesley “Bo” Hall were married in Houston on August 7, 1969.
Roberta and Bo, with their children, Cindy and Terry, moved to Thornton, where their daughter, Stephanie, was born. They owned and operated James Hall Trucking Co, hauling cattle for many years, and Roberta was the bookkeeper. Later they owned the Thornton Café, which was extremely popular (serving “killer” smothered steak) with Roberta and daughter, Cindy, cooking.
Roberta accomplished so much in her life for her children and family: she knitted their booties to keep their feet warm, sewed their clothes, made their special birthday cakes, made their wedding cakes, and embroidered tablecloths, curtains, and afghans.
She grew her own garden and loved canning her produce. She had a real green thumb not only in the vegetable garden but with roses, trees, flowers, ferns and indoor plants. She also loved to go shopping and shop on QVC.
Her love for her animals was just as strong as for her family, and her special Chihuahua puppy, Mickey, always got the first plate served of the Thanksgiving dinner.
Even more than Roberta loved her children, she was a wonderful grandmother to her grand and greatgrandchildren. She didn’t just babysit, but her home was their home, and they could practically live there. She kept all their school papers and report cards and “treasured everything.” They received her booties to keep their toes warm and custom-made baby blankets, which she had continued making until recently when her health began to decline in the past six months. The family will have many wonderful memories of her love and devotion.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Violet Landen; her husband, James “Bo” Hall; great-grandson, Lane Cordova; brother, Alan Landen; sister, Carol “Susie” Kirsch; and special pup, Mickey.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Pam Hilleary of Thornton; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Cordova of Thornton; and daughter, Stephanie Broyles of Thornton.
Her beloved grandchildren are Veronica Hilleary and partner Josh Glidewell, Cody Hilleary, Max Rodin and spouse Eli Rodin; Traci Cordova; Kimberley Silar and husband Blake, T J Cordova and wife Katie, Wendy Cordova and fiancé Andrew Hunter; Sydney Murphey and husband Mason. The also beloved great-grandchildren are Dasie Craddock and husband Will, Brett Cordova, Cade Pollard, Colton Cordova, Brayden Pollard, Kendall Silar, and Presley Pollard.
She is also survived by siblings, Sandra Saucier, and husband George and Steve Landen and wife Marie; and many nieces and nephews.
