Bonnie Faye Gibson

Bonnie Faye Gibson went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 7 2022, at the age of 94.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Groesbeck on Saturday, June 11 with Brother Richard Williams and Brother Clif Fox of the Groesbeck Church of Christ officiating. Burial followed in Faulkenberry Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Rhidenour, Ken Neyland, Dale Wilson, Mel Jarvis, Dennis Wilson and Andrew Billingsley. Honorary pallbearers were B.K. Stone, Rand Bates, Lew Stewart, and Mike Wilson.

Bonnie was born in Evant, TX on March 19, 1928, to William Truett and Ethel (Keller) Thompson. She grew up in Evant, and after graduating from Evant High School in 1946, she attended Abilene Christian College for a year, preparing for secretarial work.

Bonnie worked as a secretary in San Antonio and then in Waco. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and toured many of the western states during this time. She met Gerald Gibson through mutual friends at the Herring Avenue Church of Christ in Waco when he came to stay with them to escape Hurricane Carla in 1961.

Bonnie and Gerald were married in 1962 and lived in Lake Jackson until they moved to Groesbeck in 1968. They had two sons and Bonnie quit her job to be a stay-at-home mom. She began working as a part time teacher’s aide in Groesbeck public schools after the boys were in school.

Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. The most important thing in her life was her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. Everything she did as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend was in service to God. She loved her church and was a beloved member of the Groesbeck Church of Christ where she served faithfully for 54 years. She taught in the children’s Bible classes and loved to send cards to encourage others. She was always warm and generous with her love and affection for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed holidays when all her family was around her.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Dean Gibson in 2011 and by her parents and her sister Patsine (Thompson) Hamilton and Patsine’s two children Richard Hamilton and Diane (Hamilton) Killingsworth.

She is survived by her two sons, Brian Gibson and his wife Lourdes of Waco and Brent Gibson and his wife Katherine of Waco; grandchildren, Maci, Mack, Camille, and Bonnie Gibson and Christopher Molina, and great-granddaughters Mia Gibson and Uma Adhikari.

The family would like to thank those from Visiting Angels who cared for her so faithfully in the last years of her life, especially Mary Williamson and Carla Carmichael.
