Bobby Joe “Bob” Boyd

Bobby Joe “Bob” Boyd, of Seale, passed away at the Limestone Medical Center Monday, January 10, 2022, at the age of 93.

Bob was born December 12, 1928, to James Vestal Boyd and Mamie Inez (May) Boyd of Seale. The family moved to Franklin where he attended grade school then moved to Dallas when he was in high school. Bob worked on the pipeline for many years. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as Private First Class. While stationed in Fort Sill Oklahoma he responded to the 1947 Texas City disaster.

After his discharge, he was living in the Houston area, where he met a young lady named Jackie while helping her change a flat tire. They began dating and were married on November 24, 1951.

Bob and Jackie made their home and raised their three children in Houston. He worked for his uncle in 1949 in the auto parts industry. In 1954, he opened a new store and served as manager of Mayson Auto Supply, located on the outskirts of downtown Houston. Bob purchased this auto part and paint store in 1973 and kept it in operation for the next forty years. During that time, he served as one of the Presidents of Automotive Wholesalers of Texas.

Bob and Jackie had a marriage that endured for 70 years. They were devoted members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston.

Bob enjoyed growing vegetables and fruits. He liked fishing and hunting and loved playing dominoes.

During his retirement he also enjoyed visiting his daughter and grandchildren in California. He always managed to make a stop in Las Vegas on his way there and back to enjoy the $5 buffet, $.05 video poker and complimentary drinks and rooms.

Bob and Jackie moved back to his birth place in Seale a few years ago for the view, relaxation, peace and quiet.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother and his parents.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Suzette Boyd of Tomball; daughter, Brenna Nichols of Seale; and son Bradley Boyd of Houston; three grandchildren, Randal Nichols, Kasey Dunnagan, and Garrett Boyd; two great grandchildren, Tate Dunnagan and Corbin Dunnagan; and his Grand Dogs Swervy, Wobbles, Sharkie and Roo.
