Local store busted for illegal gambling
Groesbeck police busted what authorities say was an illegal gambling operation as they executed a search warrant Monday morning at Ruby’s Food Mart located at 619 N Ellis in Groesbeck.
“We conducted an investigation into reported illegal gambling occurring at the business,” said Groesbeck PD Chief Chris Henson. “That investigation resulted in the acquisition of a search warrant on Monday, April 12.”
Several "8-liner" gaming machines were seized along with a large amount of cash.
Texas law forbids gambling devices, such as eight-liners, from awarding cash prizes.
The investigation was led by Detective Autumn Cox and Detective John Blanco.
No arrests were made, according to authorities.
Officials said they will continue investigations into illegal gambling in the city and encourage citizens to continue to use the Groesbeck Police Department's tip411 app to report criminal activity.
