Bobby Gene Pelton
Bobby Gene Pelton of Groesbeck passed away on January 21, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.
Bobby was born in Groesbeck, Texas to Lester Pelton and Lillie Mae (Thomas) Pelton on December 23, 1946. He was raised in Groesbeck and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School.
Bobby began work in the oil field; later he worked for Joe Neason for 10 years and finished his career in November 2019 when he retired from Rand Oil Company after 35 years of service. Soon after retirement, he was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer. Although he faced a life-taking battle, he managed to live his life to the fullest.
Words that Bobby lived by were “nothing ventured, nothing gained” and the Golden Rule. He loved Blues music and talking about the good ole days. The “Sopranos” and “Greys Anatomy” were his TV favorites, watching all the seasons twice!
When asked what three things he was most proud of, he responded 1) “looking at three right now”—me, my sister and mom; 2) his grandkids—Alek was his best friend; and (3) the Pelton family—Rosie was so special to him.
Some of his favorite things were bluebell ice cream, making biscuits from scratch, fishing, and playing dominoes and cards. Working on vehicles with his nephews was a special hobby. Bobby was a man that kept anything that he felt could be used in the future. He collected many different things, including arrowheads, marbles, and even screws and bolts. He especially liked learning new things. YouTube was a favorite.
To his family, Bobby was their rock. He loved being with his family, and especially loved his grandchildren. He was a very hard-working man, taking pride in everything he had--the kind of man that would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Juanita White; daughters, Isabelle Pelton and Nina White; and son, Heath Pelton.
