James Arthur (Art) Easley, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020, at age 59.
Family and friends will be holding a Benefit and Celebration of his life at his home at 302 East Trinity, Groesbeck, on Saturday, October 3, 2020, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Barbeque plates will be available for those wanting to make donations. The family will welcome those who can come to celebrate Art’s life.
Art was born June 30, 1961 in Groesbeck to John Dean Easley and Laura Mae (Richardson) Easley. He grew up and attended schools in Groesbeck. He was already working before he was grown, and work was his main addition in life.
He started out working offshore on oil rigs and for a period of time worked in the oil fields in Alaska. He loved his time in Alaska, and said the company provided great food such as lobster and prime rib for their employees every night.
Art became a father when he was 30, and with four children, he had great reasons to work hard. This caused him to be away from the kids, until he was injured on the job. He suffered a broken back, and was then back home in Early with the family while trying to recover, while the children were attending school.
Later in life, he moved back to Groesbeck and was able to spend time with this grandmother and father. His children were very dear to him and he would do all he could, beyond mortal limits, for his children. He had many friends and was very sociable. He enjoyed fishing, dove hunting, and eating Nathan’s cooking. When physically able to, Art would do anything to help anyone, whether family or friends. He helped several local ranchers to the extent of his physical ability.
As time progressed, his health deteriorated more and he was literally hunched over his walker to get around. Yet he made many trips to the funeral home to pay his respects to many people whom he had known. Art’s work ethic was stronger than he was strong. After suffering many years of tremendous pain and inability to do the things he wanted to do, those who love him are glad to see his suffering is now ended.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, John Dean and Laura and his grandmother, Geraldine (Mamaw) Easley.
He is survived by his four children: son, Nathan Scott Easley of Groesbeck; daughter, Jaimie Jo Easley of Brownwood, Ethan Tye Easley of Austin, and son, Randy Kyle Easley of Brownwood; granddaughter, Callie Mae Easley of Austin; brother, Bubba Easley of Thornton; sister, Sherri Leathers of Whitney; and sister, J’Anne Diem of Michigan; and nieces and nephews.
