Annie Nell (Sally) Mitchell
Annie Nell (Sally) Mitchell of Kosse passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 at her home.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in the First Baptist Church of Kosse, with Rev. Daryl Hatley officiating. Burial followed at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were JT Mitchell, Jason Savell, Jeremy Savell, Johnny Foster, Mike Savell and Roger Garrett. Honorary bearers were Shane Cates, Rob Arellano, Shannon Rousey, Ronnie Funderburk, Randy Funderburk, Kendall Funderburk, Tommy O’Neal, Jimmy O’Neal, Michael McCaleb, Steven Wells and the Kosse VFD.
On July 22, 1929, a branch of the Mitchell family tree was born that would flourish and bear the sweetest fruit for the next 90 years. Annie Nell Mitchell, Miss Sally as she preferred, has parented and grandparented numerous children. She was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus, caring for the children’s nursery church ministry at Britmorre Baptist Church in Houston, then finishing her mission at First Baptist Church of Kosse since 1979. Miss Sally expressed her love for the Lord through teaching His beautiful children. Her radiant smile and crystal blue eyes were always ready to provide a word of encouragement, a praise to the Lord, or a smack on the leg, whatever was most needed at the moment. She leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship that will continue for decades to come.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Lee and Zelma Lee O’Neal Mitchell; husband, John Henry Mitchell, late husband CM Hall; daughter, Linda Sue Mitchell; son, Jerry Von Mitchell; brother, Dean Mitchell and sister, Bertie Mae Shetter.
Miss Sally is survived by her daughters, Brenda and husband Mike Savell of Hilltop Lakes and Barbara Nell Boren of Kosse; daughter-in-law, Diane Dunn of Centerville; grandchildren, Johnny and wife Cathy Foster of Winters, Lorie and husband Shane Cates of Huffman, Jeremy and wife Mara Savell of Coldspring, Jason and wife Ann Savell of College Station, Jaclyn Garrett and Shannon Rousey of Groesbeck, JT and Amanda Mitchell of Centerville, Coty and husband Rob Arellano of Centerville; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Margie Jo Shetter of New Mexico and Barbara Lou Foster of Hempstead.
