Drive-through BBQ fundraiser planned for family after tragedy
A fundraiser benefit for the family that lost much in a recent fire has been planned at the Kosse Community Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25. The Gomez family recently experienced loss from a fire that occurred April 19. The family was reportedly not able to salvage much from the blaze, which began under the carport and engulfed much of the home.
“Kasa Kosse has given us full bellies after a long day or night of work, delicious Mexican food, rocked our babies and treated us all like family,” wrote event organizers via Facebook. “We are all better people for having the Gomez family in our lives.”
A barbecue sandwich fundraiser event has been set up on Facebook by Cara and Mitchell Jeffcoat to benefit the family. The event is drive-through only, due to encouraged guidelines regarding COVID-19.
Organizers stated that “4 Guys and a Pit” will serve their award-winning barbecue at the event. Each plate includes a sliced brisket sandwich, potato salad and the fixins’ to-go at a cost of $10. In the past, the barbecue team has been sponsored by the Gomez family’s restaurant, Kasa Kosse, in past cookoffs. All proceeds garnered during the event will benefit the Gomez Family directly.
