Gladmon Eldridge Ratcliff
Gladmon Eldridge Ratcliff, 91, of Groesbeck, Texas, passed away on February 29, 2020, in Mexia, Texas.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today (Thursday, March 5) at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Clifton Jones of Prairie Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10 a.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas on December 18, 1928, he was the son of Eldridge King “Bo” Ratcliff and Josephine (Hudson) Ratcliff. Gladmon proudly served in the United States Marine Corp as an MP.
He retired in 1985 after 35 years as a supervisor for Firestone. He was a faithful member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church and was a big family man. Gladmon was a true cowboy and rancher. He was an original member of the Orange County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo. Gladmon had a steer named Jake who was his favorite pet Longhorn. He lived his life by “God, Family, Cattle”. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Josephine Ratcliff; grandparents Moese and Lottie Ratcliff.
He was survived by his loving wife Delores Ratcliff; children, Scott Ratcliff and wife Jan, Lequeta Flowers both of Buna; Sherry Stephens of Groesbeck, step-son Earl Hassell and wife Dixie, and step-daughter Deborah Hassell both of Sweeny, Texas; grandchildren, Mandy Sonnier, Colby Ratcliff, Phillip Flowers, Beau Flowers, Erin Flowers, Dedra Lynn Carroll, and John Michael Johnson; great grandchildren, Brett Sonnier, Lauren Sonnier, Emma Sonnier, Nolan Sonnier, Landon Flowers, Ella Flowers, Wesley Keathley, Kari Lynn Caroll, Blake Russell Carroll, Cody Carroll, Marissa Belle Johnson, Tracy Lane Johnson, Cooper Lawley, and Beau Michael Johnson; sisters, Jeanette Copeland and Leanette Stark.
Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Flowers, Beau Flowers, Colby Ratcliff, John Johnson, Wesley Keathley and Brett Sonnier. Honorary pallbearers are Landon Flowers, Nolan Sonnier, Blake Russell, Tracy Johnson and Beau Johnson.
