Effie Marie Rickard Fahle

Effie Marie Rickard Fahle, 93, passed away at Scott & White in Temple, Texas, on December 2nd 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 26, 1926 in Heyworth, Illinois to James and Minnie Wynn Rickard.

Effie met her husband Lester Fahle in grade school. They married on June 26, 1948 in Hill City, Kansas. Lester worked in seismograph, and during the course of his 38 year career the Fahles lived at 75 different addresses. When he retired in 1985, they made their home on Lake Limestone. Lester and Effie spent their retirement fishing, playing with their grandchildren, and travelling the country in the motor home they built themselves.

Effie was a homemaker, raising two children as they travelled around the southwest. She was also an excellent seamstress who made all of her family’s clothing. During the course of her life, she taught herself plumbing, mechanics, general repair work, and how to pack a lot of stuff in a small amount of space. Effie will be remembered for her sense of humor, sharp wit, and her fierce love of family.

Effie was preceded in death by her parents, James & Minnie Rickard, her son, Eddie Fahle, her brother, Warren Rickard, and her sister, Faye Head.

She is survived by her husband Lester Fahle, her daughter Regena Fahle (Kenneth) Smith of Groesbeck, four grandchildren: Kimberly Fahle (Mackenzie) Moore of McKinney,TX, Trista Fahle (Scott) Lutz of Hamilton, TX, Cassandra Smith Bindea of Groesbeck, TX, and Jeffrey (Amanda) Smith of Pflugerville, TX, and ten greatgrandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on January 4th at 11:00 am at their home on Lake Limestone. Donations may be made in her name to Old Union Church of Christ, 5932 FM 937, Groesbeck, TX 76642.
