Michael Lee Wietzikoski

Michael Lee Wietzikoski of Groesbeck, better known to all as Mike, passed away at his home on Friday, November 29, 2019, at age 55.

Visitation will be held in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, beginning at 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richard Williams of the Church of Christ of Groesbeck officiating. Burial will follow in Faulkenberry Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Flint McLean, Anson Wilson, Luis Contreras, Raymond Sanders, Robert Rader, Craig Champion, and Russell Black. Gene Rhodes and Cody Crane will be Honorary Pallbearers.

Mike was born September 19, 1964, to Raymond L. and Barbara (Jordan) Wietzikoski in Groesbeck. He grew up in Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School with the Class of 1983, where he had played football for the Groesbeck Goats, was a member of FFA, the Rodeo Club and was Class Favorite.

After graduation, Mike worked at the Jewett Mine until 1985 and made many lifelong friends. He went in business with his Mom and Dad at Raymond’s Texaco, which later was Raymond’s Shell. Again, he made many friendships with his customers. His desire was more to help people than to make money, and he even was known to make house-calls to fix flats for some of his customers at their home. In the recent few years, he was the owner of Groesbeck Lube and Tire and had worked till the day he passed away. He was actively planning his life to get back in the cattle business for his future retirement years.

In his younger years, Mike loved roping, and he enjoyed having everybody come to his house to rope, especially his brother, son Kyle and his nephews. He loved his horses and would say “horses were easier to talk to than people.”

Mike lived at home with his two special dogs; he took good care of them and they were very “very” protective of him. He loved to have his friends and family come to his house to cook on his BBQ pit which he and his friend Ignacio Contreras built many years ago. He would grocery shop on Saturday and invite people to “come on over.”

Mike recently lost one of his dearest friends, Mrs. Louise Willett. She had worked for his Dad and later for him at the service station and he felt like she was a grandmother to him. For many years, Mike chose to cook a meal every Sunday (not missing any) to take to Mrs. Willett and he spent many hours talking with her. It was a mutual friendship they both enjoyed.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Raymond Wietzikoski; uncle Daniel Wietzikoski; uncle Isadore Bienski; and his special friend and grandmother figure, Louise Willett.

He is survived by his daughter and friend, Anjela Wietzikoski and Allen Sanders of Groesbeck; son and daughterin-law, Kyle and Kristy Wietzikoski of Navasota; son, Chris Wietzikoski of Mart; the mother of his children, Dawna Wietzikoski of Thornton; brother and sisterin-law, Kenneth and Karen Wietzikoski of Groesbeck; nephews, Jordan Wietzikoski and wife Trish of Groesbeck and Jace Wietzikoski of Groesbeck; aunt, Christine Bienski of Bryan; seven grandchildren: John Lewis, Taylor, Braydon, Brendon, Tanner, Mallory and Rayleigh; and great-grandson, Ayden.
