James Marion Fairbairn
James Marion Fairbairn, 87, of Richardson, Texas passed away on November 12, 2019. He was born in Kosse, Texas on December 6, 1931. James Fairbairn graduated from Kosse High School and received a BBA from the University of Texas.
He married Carolyn Sophia Meyer on July 30, 1960. James had a career in insurance for Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the 1st Marine Division Association. James had a passion for service to veterans and retired military organizations, including Toys for Tots. He also had a passion for Western Life and his horses, spending time on the farm in Kosse with his family, friends, and classmates. James also spent and treasured time with his Marine buddies from Korea and the disabled veterans at the VA. He loved the times he got to travel to many places with Carol and family after retirement. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and being a part of their lives.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Grady Fairbairn and Ida Ruth Mitchell Fairbairn; sister, Jean Buckley; and brother, Grady Lynn Fairbairn.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Fairbairn; his children, Alice Jean Loper and Karen Ann Simon; his grandchildren, Mason James Simon, Jack Ryan Simon, Roman Fairbairn Loper, and Haven Fairbairn Loper; and his brother, Garland T. (Bill) Fairbairn.
A Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 21 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson. Following the viewing, family and friends will process to Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery for burial which will be held at 11:30am.
