Journal to host OPEN HOUSE for HOCO 2018
The Groesbeck Journal will have a homecoming open house on Friday afternoon, September 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The open house will be held at the longtime home of the Journal office, 115 N. Ellis Street.
During the Journal’s 125th anniversary celebration on June 30, 2017, tours of the Journal’s facility were presented and explanations of the how the remarkable line-o-type machines operation were given.
Even though they are no longer used, the Journal still has two line-o-type machines in-house as well as the very old press that once printed the Journal for many years. These activities will be repeated during the open house, and folks may glance at some of the old Journals as well as have chances to sign up for giveaways and enjoy time to fellowship and enjoy refreshments catered by Kamdan’s Cafe.
Groesbeck Journal personnel; Publisher- Richard Nelson, GM/ Editor- Jennifer Paul, and other Journal employees will be in attendance, as well as retired editor-publisher Tom Hawkins.
All homecoming visitors, as well as the home folks, are invited to come by the Journal office on Friday, September 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and enjoy the Journal building, visitation, memories and more. We look forward to seeing you there!
