Nance Twins Celebrate 90th Birthday
On Saturday, August 18, 1928, twin girls were born to Mamie and Irby Nance at their rural home in Thornton, Texas. Dr. J. B. Barnett was the doctor that delivered the babies. He named the girls Mary and Martha. The parents then added the middle names, Mary Lane and Martha Jane. Irby’s brother, Robbie Nance, was in the field with workers picking cotton when he was told that his brother just had twin girls. He immediately declared a holiday and told the workers to go home. The twins were welcomed by their siblings, Janice Marie, Granval Jason, Irby Geneva and Sarah Pearl.
On Saturday, August 18, 2018, 103 family members and friends gathered at the new Mary Helen Nance Community Center in Thornton, Texas to celebrate the twins’, Mary Nance McBay and Martha Nance Angle, 90th birthday.
To begin the party, Steve Nance, a cousin, emceed and led a prayer before a delicious lunch was catered and served by the Farmhouse Restaurant of Mexia, Texas. After the meal a 90th birthday cake which was made by the Courtside Bakery of Groesbeck, Texas, was served then followed by two hours of visitation and fellowship.
Mary McBay was lessed to have all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to attend this blessed event.
The party was hosted by their niece, Cheryl Richardson and Mary’s children, Susan McBay Fauss, Cody McBay, and Nance’ McBay.
