Red, White and BOOM!
Jay’s Fireworks wows the crowd sixteen years and counting
For sixteen years in a row, owners of the beloved local stand Jay’s Fireworks have brought Groesbeck the sky-brightening show that many may associate with summertime and Independence Day. Jay and Jean Smith, of Groesbeck, have always been entertainers at heart, and what started small has exploded into a large, successful operation.
“We moved here in 2001 and started doing fireworks shows for our church out at Lake Limestone,” Jay said. “That got bigger and bigger every year and I finally said 'I need to have my own stand so I can get fireworks cheaper’.”
So that is what the couple did, learning along the way about selling seasons, local/state requirements and more along the way. In 2001, Jay's Fireworks opened up shop in Groesbeck, and started a tradition of bringing joy to everyone who visited their shop.
