Singing competition helps fund scholarships for Navarro College students
The Navarro College Foundation is pleased to bring back Legacy: A New Voice, in which local talent will compete in a singing competition for the annual fundraiser.
Each participant is depending on the community, friends and colleagues to cast their vote in an effort to support scholarships for local students. Voting is already open at Legacy.NavarroCollege. edu. In addition, voting will be available the evening of the event during the live performances. The overall winner will be determined based on the number of votes and judges’ scores, each weighted at 50%. The performer with the highest combined score will receive the Golden Mic Award.
The evening will be packed with great food and entertainment that you will not want to miss.
The Leona General Store & Steakhouse is catering the meal, with dessert provided by Nothing Bundt Cakes. Revendy “Pork Chop” Rhodes will emcee and the show will open with a performance from last year’s Golden Mic Award winner, Curtis Ray. Seven performers will take the stage to compete for votes. The evening will conclude with a performance from one of last year’s performers, Blake Fisk.
The seven entertainers competing for your support and votes include: Carrie Crutcher of Teague, Tom Vandegriff of Marquez, Erica Navarro of Mexia, Becca Ward of Coolidge, Addyson Allen of Mexia, Kensy Isaacs of Fairfield and Amber Rogers of Wortham. Information about each contestant may be found at Legacy.NavarroCollege.edu . Competition judges will be Eric Garretty, Arthur “Chunky” Busby and Debbie Wilson. We would like to thank each of our performers, judges and emcee for their commitment to this event.
A New Voice will be held at the Groesbeck Convention Center on Friday, June 11, at 7:00 pm. The event will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, open bar and live entertainment. Tickets for the event are $75 per person and can be purchased at Legacy.NavarroCollege.edu. Sponsorship opportunities are also available with table prices ranging from $500 to $1,000.
