Plans for new county museum facility
In order to better preserve and promote the rich heritage of Limestone County, the Limestone County Museum Board of Directors has undertaken plans for a new museum facility, which would be located on property on Highway 14 between Groesbeck and Mexia. The front facade of the new building would replicate the Logan Stroud home, which was built near Springfield during the 1850s and was the site of the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation in June 1865. In addition to large exhibit areas, the new facility will include a large archival space to properly store the museum’s collections, a research room, and proper environmental controls.
A building fund has been established at the Farmers State Bank. Anyone wishing to donate to this fund may do so at any of the bank’s branches, or donations can be mailed to Limestone County Historical Museum at P.O. Box 592, Groesbeck, TX 76642.
