GHS Band makes Straight 1s at District Marching Contest
Congratulations to the Groesbeck High School Band for another successful marching season. Their marching show is entitled ‘Time Machine’ and utilizes various clock sounds to create a show in three movements: Clocks, Hourglass and Sundial, and Digital Clocks.
The GHS Band attended the UIL Region 8 3A Marching Band Contest at McGregor this past Saturday. Their stellar performance earned the band 1st Division, Superior ratings from all three judges at the contest. Not only did the band earn a 1st Division UIL trophy, but has also qualified for the UIL Area D 3A Marching Contest to be held this Saturday, October 23, at Robinson HS. The tentative prelim schedule has the GHS Band marching at 11:15 am, vying for an opportunity to perform again that evening in the finals competition.
“We are so proud of the accomplishments the band has made this year. They have worked hard, spending countless hours repeating and cleaning parts of the music and marching to create a great show. It was exciting getting the opportunity to march in the finals segment of the Whitney Marching Festival on the 9th. The kids went into the UIL Marching Contest with confidence that we haven’t seen in a while and it paid off. We are looking forward to seeing how they perform at Area on Saturday.”
